The Barcelona Committee and the Ibero-American Committee of CFA Society Spain are pleased to restart in-person conferences in the city with great experts on financial and economic issues.

Next Thursday, April 11, we will have the presence of Juan Szabo, who will talk to us about:

Energy sector: Strategy, Geopolitics and Environmental Pressures

The conference is part of the Experts in LatAm Series initiative of CFA Society Spain and will be held jointly with IESE (Campus Sur, Avenida Pearson, 21). The event will be in English.

Mr. Juan Szabo will share his vision on the energy sector, including topics such as security in a complex geopolitical environment or the energy transition, as well as different possible scenarios and their effects on the world economy. He will also address the supply strategy of Western countries and the impact of environmental pressures.

About Juan Szabo:

Senior advisor on energy issues for companies, investment managers and international multilateral organizations. He is the Technical Coordinator of the Manager Training Programs for the Petrochemical and Oil and Gas Industries of the IESA (Venezuela).

He has more than 50 years of experience in the international oil industry. Most of his career was dedicated to the Venezuelan oil industry in the areas of operations, fields, planning, petrochemistry, finance and M&A at PDVSA, highlighting his activities in the design and execution of the Experimental Blocks of the Orinoco Belt, the gas discoveries north of Paria and the Deltana Platform, the acquisition of Citgo and Champlin (USA), the promotion and development of the Complejo Petroquímico de José and the Apertura Petrolera. More recently, he developed the hydrocarbon industry recovery plans for the "Plan Pais."

He has a bachelor and master degree in Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering from the University of Houston, Texas.
