Mr. Jose Santos is Managing Director and Global Business Head for Financial Institutions at Fitch Ratings. Mr. Santos is responsible for managing the global business activities for Banks, Non-Bank Financial Institutions, Insurance, Sovereigns and Fund & Asset management at Fitch Ratings. The financial institutions group cover over 3,000 banks and non-banks, such as securities firms, finance and leasing companies and private equity firms, over 1,000 insurance firms, 115 Sovereigns and approximately 500 funds and asset managers. Mr. Santos responsibilities include defining and setting the business strategy for the group, managing business origination as well as investor, issuer and banker relations.

Mr. Santos is also Country Head for Fitch Spain covering the Spanish, Portuguese and Greek markets. He has been CEO and board member of Fitch España, board member and Head of Fitch Italia and management board member of Fitch Polska.

During his tenure at Fitch Ratings, Mr. Santos has also been Regional Head for Southern Europe having the responsibility for managing all sectors of activity in the region. Prior to that, he was head of the Structured Finance team of Business and Relationship Management covering Continental Europe.

Mr. Santos joined Fitch in 2005. He has 20 years of experience in the financial industry. Before coming to Fitch, he was member of the Investment Banking division of Citigroup working on the structured corporate finance and fixed income departments of the bank. Prior to that, he worked in the M&A department of Robert Fleming & Co.

Mr. Santos holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from Universidad de Barcelona and an MBA from IESE Business School.
