Finance Bootcamp with Faculty - Session 4 - Markets & Wealth Management

IMPORTANT: To register for this bootcamp, campus groups is not enough, you need to also register here: https://apply.iese.edu/17037246545125337738908129360523/ The Finance Bootcamp is a series of preparation sessions taught by IESE Finance Professors. This Bootcamp is an essential part of the finance preparation track, offered by CDC in addition to the activities organised by the Finance Club. Students who want to land an interview for an internship in finance are strongly recommended to participate in this Bootcamp. Please note: if you sign up for the Bootcamp you are expected to attend all sessions. There are 4 sessions in total. Session 4 will also be taught by Prof. Javier Estrada from the Financial Management department. The session will give an introduction to Markets and Wealth Management • Session Wealth Management I In this part of the session we will discuss the three levers of portfolio management – asset allocation, security selection, and market timing – with particular emphasis on the first two. We will discuss asset classes, their role in a portfolio, and how they are combined in portfolios for specific investors. We will also consider the current product landscape and discuss hedge funds, absolute return funds, mutual funds, index funds, and ETFs. • Session Wealth Management II In this part of the session we will discuss other relevant issues on wealth management, including the importance of fees, reversals in performance, investing styles (value vs. growth and small-caps vs. large caps), and the relatively-new smart beta products. We will also visit a few good and useful websites that you may want to keep an eye on. No prior preparation is required for these sessions. For some of the sessions there may be casework to be prepared in advance. We will communicate with you by email regarding the cases to prepare and where you can access these materials. Only one registration is needed for the Bootcamp (no need to register 5 times for the 5 sessions). IMPORTANT: Information regarding the logistics of the sessions: Given that we consider that it is preferable that you can attend these sessions in person, these sessions will be taught presentially from the IESE North Campus.
