Last week I renewed my annual premium membership to Net Impact. For $20 I have access to a wealth of information that will help me transition from the corporate world into a responsible career post MBA. Your Responsible Business Club is affiliated with Net Impact as one of the more than 300 chapters around the world of which 174 are graduate school chapters. Last year, for the very first time, we became a “Gold Chapter” which is the highest honor at Net Impact.
Let me tell you why I joined Net Impact as a premium member and why you should to:
- Job Board = Currently there are over 160 positions posted. You can search by keyword, location, opportunity type (full time vs. internship), experience level, industry, function, and area of impact. For example, there is a summer internship posting for the Environmental Defense Fund in San Francisco as well as a full time Manager for ImpactBase in New York City.
- Career Connections = Gives you the opportunity to speak with other Net Impact members whom have knowledge in a particular field that interests you. You can browse by topic or search by location such as in person, skype, or phone. For example, I can schedule a skype call with someone who is an expert in social entrepreneurship today or someone who is an expert in International Development tomorrow. This could possibly be the easiest way to network ever!
- Projects for Good = No official work experience in responsible business like me? No problem as Net Impact has thought about it. Currently there are 38 projects in this database ranging from business plan development for the Shield Foundation in India to market research for One Degree in the comforts of your own home. Some projects have set deadlines such as 3 months however others have more flexible deadlines. The locations can be flexible as well.
I could go on and on about the benefits of joining Net Impact however I think its important to also talk about the 3 chapter specific benefits for premium members that I mentioned to you back in September at our 1st RBC meeting.
- CV & CL Review = The leadership team is committed to your success which is why we offer CV & CL reviews whenever you want. All you need to do is submit your CV and/or CL to rbc@iese.net and we’ll make sure that someone with experience in the function which you are applying reviews it for you. Please allow 1 week for feedback.
- Interview Preparation = Need help getting ready for your interview? We have a diverse group of members in our club, which are more than happy to mock with you. For example, are you applying to Consulting? We have a McKinsey and a Bain associate on our leadership team. Again, all you need to do is submit a mock interview request to rbc@iese.net and we’ll make sure that someone with experience in the function which you are applying schedules a mock with you. Please allow 1 week for mock scheduling.
- Mentorship = Who couldn't use a little advice in the 1st year of the MBA? Do you have random questions come up from time to time either school or non-school related? I know I do. That’s why we put together a support network to help make your life easier. To take advantage of this unique opportunity that no other club offers, send an email to rbc@iese.net.
